Sakura season is just around the corner!
We took a wander around the Kita-Otsuka branch to see what new seasonal items are on offer.
Hanami Goods
During the sakura season, many people take part in Hanami. The word, which means “flower viewing,” describes a traditional custom of individuals going out to celebrate the sakura. Nowadays, most people do this by having an outdoor party beneath the sakura trees. These outdoor parties can be seen sort of as a spring picnic, with people bringing their own bentos and sakura sweets to share with other attendees.
Currently, DAISO has everything you could ever need to host a successful Hanami party. From disposable sakura-themed tableware to traditional bento boxes, you can get all the essentials for no more than ¥500.
For tableware, DAISO has a great selection of sakura-themed disposable plates. Our personal pick is the one shaped like the flower itself, as they are super aesthetic, but you can also get your hands on ones with a simpler sakura design. All of them come in multi-packs.
There is also a solid selection of sakura-themed cups. Some come in a packet which includes around 3 to 6 plastic cups – a good choice for those who are having a party with multiple people. You can also buy individual clear plastic cups with different floral designs if you are looking for something a bit fancier.
It could be worth picking up some disposable chopsticks as well, as they are useful for serving food. Here, you can get a packet of 20 bamboo ones. Three different spring-themed place mats are also available, and although you probably wouldn’t use them for a Hanami picnic, they could be a nice addition to your dining table.
In addition to all of this, DAISO is selling traditional bento boxes which are perfect to use for Hanami parties and other special events. Despite these costing ¥500, they are definitely worth the price given the size and material. They look a lot more expensive than they actually are.
Home Goods & Decorations
Even if you are not planning to have a Hanami party, you may still want to get into the spring spirit whilst refreshing your living space.
In the seasonal goods section, you can find some small flower-themed spray bottles which would be ideal for watering any house plants.
There are also some sakura-themed cloth pouches on sale. Although they don’t have a specific use, they would be good for keeping together any smaller items you have.
You may want to go the step further and decorate your walls with these sakura wall stickers. There are two designs; one with just sakura flowers and one with sakura and cats on.
If you don’t want to go through the effort of putting stickers on your wall but still want to show your appreciation for the flower, then you could just opt for this cherry blossom fabric poster or fabric banner. To make your space really feel like spring, you should consider getting these individual fake sakura petals and spreading them on your floor.

DAISO is a great place to get affordable arts, crafts and stationary bits. You will find an amazing range of sakura-themed stickers, memos, post-it notes and letter writing paper. Within this selection of stuff, there is also some cherry-blossom shaped bunting which can be used as decoration.
There are also some more general spring-themed stickers and colored cards which you can use for scrapbooking or any other crafty thing.

Although there aren’t too many sakura-themed beauty products, there are a few nail ones which you may want to look at.
