What is Mom's touch?

Starting off as a small chain in the streets of Seoul, Mom’s Touch has gradually become one of Korea’s most popular fast-food brands and is currently on its way to becoming a global company. Although it is loved by people of all ages, it has especially been a hit with Gen Z.

Just like the name implies, the burgers at Mom’s Touch have a homely feel to them, tasting like something your mother would cook. The brand not only strives to serve the most delicious burgers but also uses fresher and healthier ingredients, leaving the customer happier.

At the end of 2023, Mom’s Touch opened a temporary pop-up store in Shibuya to test how popular the burger and chicken chain would be in Tokyo. To no one’s surprise, the pop-up proved to be a success, with all reservation slots filling up almost immediately. Given that there were only a limited number of spaces, many people were left disappointed. Luckily for them, however, Mom’s Touch would become a permanent fixture only a few months later, with it officially opening on April 16, 2024.

Just before the Shibuya store opened, keen customers had to reserve a seat online. Although some people still decide to reserve a spot to avoid disappointment, there is now the option to walk-in.

What's on the Menu?

At Mom’s Touch, you won’t find an extensive menu but instead a few options that have become instant classics. Without a doubt, the most sought-after items on the menu are the burgers. There are four to choose from: the thigh burger, the cheese thigh burger, the double thigh burger, and the bulgogi burger. They range in price from ¥520 to ¥840 for just the burger or ¥850 to ¥980 for a combination set that includes a drink and fries.

The other thing Mom’s Touch is known for is its fried chicken. There are a few different flavors to choose from, including boneless fried chicken, boneless yangnyeom chicken, and boneless garlic soy sauce chicken, all of which are authentic and popular in Korea. You can either opt for 2 pieces for ¥450 or 4 pieces for ¥850. Side menu items are cajun french fries and cajun cheese french fries (¥250 to ¥380). Drink options are pretty standard, with the usual Coca-Cola, Sprite, melon soda, and oolong tea.

What's it Like?

As soon as you enter the shop, you will be directed to one of the seating areas. There are around 200 seats overall, with some located upstairs and some down. After you have been allocated your seat, you will need to either go up to the til or self-order from the kiosk. The self-order kiosk is easy to use, even recommending the most popular sets and options. Conveniently, you can pay using a variety of payment methods, including cash and cards.

After you have placed your order, you will receive a numbered ticket. Make sure to keep an eye on the boards above to see your number being called out. Once it has, you will need to go upstairs to the main til, by the entrance, to collect your freshly cooked meal.

On this day, we tried the most popular item on the menu, the cheese thigh burger set. The portion was reasonable, most notably the burger, which had a big piece of fried chicken inside. The atmosphere inside was vibrant, with people talking, laughing, and enjoying their meals. However, you could also just easily sit alone and relax. Overall, this Mom’s Touch provided the perfect pit stop for lunch.
